What I plan to try
Things I want to try, and that I am expecting to work:
- Risotto
- Steamed fish
- Hollandaise sauce
- Custard
- Mixed salads (following the demo)
- Pureed peas
- Cheese sauce
- Being able to easily turn granulated sugar into caster sugar and then icing sugar.
- Peeling a lot of garlic cloves in one go (use the blade on reverse)
Things I want to try, but I'm really expecting expecting my other machines (or doing by hand) will work better
- Butter (currently use my KitchenAid)
- Sponge cake mixture (currently use my KitchenAid, or electric hand mixer)
- Grinding small quantities of spices
- Producing some sort of mince from cubed meat (We have a dedicated mincer. I've also found that the my food processor - which has a nifty double blade - does an OK job as long as I drop the meat through the feed tube while the motor is running and do it in batches).
Things I want to try, and I don't know what to expect
- Proper Pizza dough (currently make by hand or in bread machine
- Wet bread dough, like foccaccia
- Tough bread dough like rye bread and sourdoughs
- Reheating cooked rice (and from frozen?)
- Egg whites - these don't work in my food prcessor, but are excellent from the KitchenAid and the hand mixer. What will Thermie's be like?
- Can I make a proper ice cream (using a custard base?) If so, I can get rid of my ice cream maker.
- Using Thermy to mix stuff for meatballs (without chopping the meat)
